What Is Healthcare Entrepreneurship?
"Healthcare entrepreneurship is the process of creating and developing innovative solutions to improve healthcare services, products, and systems. Entrepreneurs in the healthcare ecosystem aim to address challenges such as high costs, limited access, and inefficiencies in healthcare by introducing new technologies, business models, and services. Healthcare entrepreneurs are problem solvers. They are also a type of innovator."
Can "Hyper-Vigilant Parenting" Increase The Incidence Of Childhood Poisoning? Find Out How
"As guardians of our children's well-being, it is natural and common to want to safeguard them from harm. Excessive caution can sometimes hinder the intentions of safety and protection, leading to unfortunate outcomes, particularly in cases of childhood poisoning. In our efforts to protect our children, we may put them at greater risk. It is essential to balance protecting your child and giving them the freedom to explore and learn. Overly restrictive or over-enthusiastic parenting can actually increase the risk of childhood poisoning rather than decrease it."
The Fundamental Principles Of Healthcare Innovation
"The global healthcare ecosystem has experienced waves of innovative transformations in recent years, changing how healthcare is practised, delivered, and experienced. These advancements are making care more effective, efficient and more human-centred. This article will explore the fundamental principles of healthcare innovation and briefly discuss its future."
Resilience In Leadership
"Trees sway in a strong wind! Their branches and leaves dance with the direction of the wind. They are built naturally to withstand the winds. Healthy trees won't just break in a storm or a strong wind unless it is a tornado or hurricane (mighty trees aren't really bothered about the tornado, like the oak or Sequoia). The trees that do break in a storm or strong wind have lost their ability to resist the external force of the wind, and most times, it's because they dry up and become rigid, so when the wind comes, they are stiff and can't move gracefully with the wind."

Interesting Finds And What We Are Reading
Google Receives FDA Clearance For Loss Of Pulse Detection Technology
"Google has received FDA clearance for its loss of pulse detection feature available on Pixel Watch 3. The loss of pulse detection technology checks for an individual's pulse. Once it detects signs of a loss of pulse, it activates infrared and red lights to search for additional pulse signals. A motion sensor then checks for signs of movement. An AI algorithm then analyzes the pulse and movement signals to confirm a loss of pulse, which triggers a countdown to see if the user responds."
The U.S. Is Cutting Off Foreign Aid. My Youngest Patients Are Paying The Price
"The sun is barely rising in rural Burundi when we begin our medical rounds in the pediatric ward. I am an American, doctoring in this central African nation, far away from my home in northern Ohio. An early start to our day is necessary since there are so many children here. They are all very sick—an inordinate amount of suffering crammed into their short lives. The mothers of these little ones sit sentry by their bedsides, some of them weeping, as we desperately try to save their babies from pneumonia, burns, and broken bones. Worst of all are the malnourished children, whose misery is caused by having so little to eat, their bodies shut down. Their swollen limbs, skeletal frames, and mewling cries of desperation are what keep me awake at night."
What Is Lipoedema? The Condition Affecting 1 In 10 Women With Symptoms Mistaken For Obesity
"It's a condition that is often mistaken for obesity, and can leave women feeling ashamed or embarrassed about their bodies. But lipoedema, as former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has pointed out, is not the fault of women who have it. What is the condition and what can be done about it? Lipoedema is a chronic condition caused by abnormal body fat. These excess abnormal fat cells typically build up in the legs, hips and bottom, often making the lower body appear larger. It can sometimes include fat buildup in the arms."
Scripps Research Study Reveals New Approach For Combating "Resting" Bacteria
"Most disease-causing bacteria are known for their speed: In mere minutes, they can double their population, quickly making a person sick. But just as dangerous as this rapid growth can be a bacterium's resting state, which helps the pathogen evade antibiotics and contributes to severe chronic infections in the lungs and blood, within wounds, and on the surfaces of medical devices. Now, Scripps Research scientists have discovered how long chains of molecules called polyphosphates (polyP) are needed for bacteria to slow down movements within cells and let them enter this resting state. The findings, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on April 02, 2024, could eventually lead to new ways of treating chronic infections in which typical antibiotics aren't effective."
